3 Ways the Internet Helps Farriers
Well it’s now the end of 2013 and we will soon begin 2014. I know many of you still don’t think that the internet has much to offer for the farrier or maybe you just don’t like using new technology. Well it’s out there and you should take advantage. I’m gonna show you three ways the internet will help you this year.
So there are many different disciplines in the horse world and all of them have their own set of rules and tricks farriers follow when shoeing. If you are a new farrier it’s tough to find these answers you need when you get a new barn or you are wanting to start shoeing a specific discipline.
The best way is to apprentice but many can’t find the right guy or the best guy. Still yet even if you do find someone who is good they might not know much about the discipline you wish to shoe.
Well Farrier Products Distribution, Inc. (FPD) has created something specifically for that problem. It’s called the Field Guide for Farriers. This is a guide for almost every discipline here in the U.S. It’s easy to use and extremely helpful. They even have an app so you can use it on the go. In my opinion this is a must have for new farriers and seasoned farriers looking to expand their book.
Time is, as we all know, money. For farriers this is fact, if we are not shoeing horses then we are not making money. I don’t know about you but I work hard to make sure that I utilize my time in a manner that makes me more money.
That’s exactly why buying online is so crucial. The time (money) you waste going to and from, not to mention while you are there, the farrier supply is time (money) you will never get back. That’s just time, if you can say that, you also have to consider the gas you waste. Gas prices are ever increasing and you will find that it’s not as easy to raise your price to compensate.
My suggestion is find a site you like and see how much it effects your bottom line for the better. These sites also usually have discounts just for signing up as a member for free and they offer special item discounts periodically throughout the year.
I suggest you check out americanfarrierssupply.com, they offer 10% off your entire first order if you sign up as a member, which is completely free. They also have discounts of 10% off when you buy by the box. Not to mention they have a daily deals tab that gives 5% off select items. If you like saving money, and who doesn’t, this is a must.
I’m gonna tell on myself a little bit here. I am not organized at all, so I used a planner that helped me with this. The planner was ok but very inconvenient and it’s almost 2014, so it’s safe to say there is definitely better ways of keeping your records.
My third suggestion is the iforgeahead software. This is perfect for farriers because it’s designed specifically for farriers. Unlike other software that knows literally nothing about our business these guys got it right.
The list of features is too long for me to put in this post so I’ll just give you the link to their features and you can see why I think this is a must. If you want to see for yourself you can click here.
I hope you find this helpful and I also hope you take my advise as it will help your business. If you do like this post I ask you to please share this with your friends and like it for me as well.
